A New Chapter
and the closing of a 4 year one.
A look in the window:
It’s 8:00 in the morning. I’m sitting at the bar in our kitchen with my laptop and an iced latte I just made myself. One of my twin brothers just crawled onto my lap and my other twin brother is playing with my little sister. Everybody else is either doing chores or still in bed. Dad went in to the office in case any customers come in today but the rest of his employees are off for July 4th weekend. Mom is back in bed trying to get some more sleep because she woke up early and is very tired, she’s about 38 weeks pregnant.
I was getting ready to write a book review but then I decided not to because I wanted to write a regular blog post. I might go write the book review after this if it’s not time to get breakfast for the little ones yet.
This is the end of my last week of working for my dad, Wednesday was my last day. I’ve been working for him for around 4 years so it feels so crazy to close that chapter. I’ve now officially quit my first job. And I am so excited. It was great working there but I’ve been burnt out for probably 6 months now and I’m so excited for a summer with no job. I’m moving out at the end of the year for a year of service so I decided to just take the rest of this summer off so I can be home more. I want to spend more time with my family, especially my little siblings, before I leave. And I also want to be available to help my mom with garden stuff like canning and freezing. Plus, a new baby definitely means there will be more busyness, but I also want to be able to soak up all the baby time I can before I leave and move 12 hours away.
I feel like I’m in the minority on here as someone who isn’t writing a book or anything similar. But the truth is, that is something I very much want to get back into. When I was 12 I wrote a book with about 15 chapters in it and I cringe so bad reading it now because it’s the preachiest book you’ll ever find. lol. But the point is, I used to write. I had about a dozen book ideas and half a dozen outlines that never got written around. I never knew where to start. But I’d like to figure that out this summer and start writing more so I guess maybe you’ll get snippets of that. I started 2 different books with 2 different friends and neither went well. But my best friend and I just started another one this summer purely as an experiment, so we’ll see if it goes anywhere.
I would also love to start writing a weekly or biweekly blog post with little snippets into what’s happening around here. So, I’ll be experimenting with different formats but this is probably pretty similar to what it will be. Probably alternate between little snippets into my life, hymn studies, and book posts.
